Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese Martial Art and exercise. There are many people around the world who practice Tai Chi. There has been a lot of research done on Tai Chi and how it has helped improved balance and the immune system. Throughout history Tai Chi masters were known for their martial skill. That is one of the components that most people who practice Tai Chi here in Western countries are missing is the Martial Art aspect of Tai Chi.

When we say martial arts it does not necessarily mean going out to fight with others all the time or becoming a fighter. Using Tai Chi as a martial art means to keep yourself healthy, respect others, stay discipline, and self-defense. There are many applications in Tai Chi that are used for self-defense.

The form of Tai Chi that is done at Master Lu's Health Center is Old Yang Style Tai Chi. It was passed down through the Yang family to Grandmaster Yin Chian Ho to Master Lu. The Yang family actually taught the Wu family the Tai Chi form that we teach; however, this form is different than the Wu style Tai Chi. Lineage though is important for history, in the overall picture it is just a small part. The important thing is to practice Tai Chi and use the correct principles in practice.

Tai Chi has many benefits like strengthening, stress reduction, balance, flexibility, coordination, and self-defense. It is a great exercise and a lifetime practice. We encourage all to practice Tai Chi and keep yourself healthy. For more information about Tai Chi please contact us.
